Post Production Process Evaluation

During the post production process, there were many highs and lows. I found the editing process very lengthly and tiresome, however it was something that had to be done. This involved using After Effects, by layering and masking the images to create the exciting ending to our video with the head explosion. By using After Effects this enabled me to explore my knowledge by using digital technology to extend my use of programmes during the post productin process, which is an improvement from my lack of After Effects used in my previous editing process last year. The editing process took around 3 weeks to complete. This was due to doing a rough cut initally which wasn't correct, so I had to change it to make sure the cuts fitted to the beat, to make the rhythmic editing worthwhile. After contirbuting to the video with colouring and grading, special effects and continuous and rhythmic editing, this really highlighted my improvements to last year when I used none of those programmes or techniques during my post production process. I also had to create a promotional poster and digipak to build on the star image of my hypothetical band SMAK. This was due to being taught about Richard Dyer's theory of Stardom, where the band sells their image through their portrayal in their videos, posters and album covers. Therefore building this star image made a huge impact on my creativity and teaching me to explore and discover different types of image that fit appropriately to the genre of the track chosen. After completing my poster, digipak and video I can genuinely say I am very pleased with the final result and my hard work has paid off.
